Welcome to another season of Weekend at Bettman's, where we MYFO editors look in the rearview at the league's weekend slate, while you debate which of us is Silverman and which of us is McCarthy.  In addition to snarky one-liner recaps, we will add a brief look at the happenings in the MYFO "Goals and Assists?  Meh." Fantasy League.  Enjoy.

Hell, let's just start with that part this go-round.  Through one week of play, here are the best owned fantasy players you could have had in our league.

1. Scott Hartnell (TheHandsomefaced)
2. John Carlson (TSN Insider)
3. Dion Phaneuf (Spitting Llamas)
4. Mike Green (The Handsomefaced) - Although getting PIM for that "fight" with Kovalchuk was a lenient scoring decision.
5. Steve Montador (OvechTeam)

Combined scoring line of these 5? 1 Goal, 3 Assists.  Hilarious.

Friday

Thrashers 4, Capitals 2 - HOLY GOD, is it a scary thing to see a goalie collapse.  And we're not talking the standard Atlanta-Johan-Hedberg-is-a-terrible-goalie-and-implodes-at-the-sight-of-a-slapshot-collapse, but an actual collapse of Ondrej Pavelec.

poll

How is he NOT on this list as an option, NHL.com?  I've NEVER seen that before in my life - the very definition of impressive.

Sabres 2, Senators 1 - TSN touted that the goaltending issues in Ottawa have been solved, as Pascal Leclaire made 34 saves - in a loss.  That's some fancy spin doctoring that required several additional post-graduate degrees. For the record, Leclaire gave up 5 the following night - to Toronto.

Saturday

Red Wings 3, Blackhawks 2 - In a game that would have been mindnumbingly broadcast on NBC had this been a Saturday in March, the Red Wings won in Chicago on a night when the Blackhawks were more interested in redecorating the rafters than say, preventing Valterri Filppula from scoring goals.

Blues 2, Flyers 1 - In the Battle of MYFO, Carlo Colaiacovo's overtime shot got past Brian Boucher and gave Team LeNoc a win in this heated rivalry.  If we weren't so backlogged on Celebrity Previews, our respective mayors probably should have bet some local meats and cheeses on the outcome.  I'll get my revenge when these two teams play again in 2017.

Sunday

Oilers 3, Panthers 2 - Sunday was the first game of the season for Florida, who for some reason was giving a few extra days to lengthen the off season.  Must have been for recovery from that deep run into the play- nevermind.

Bruins 3, Coyotes 0 - Meanwhile in Prague, Nathan Horton scored his third goal of the season in a 3-0 shutout of the Coyotes.  After the game, he was quoted saying, "Boston is hockey, it's sports. It's fun to be a Boston Bruin."  No, this isn't translated from a Czech newspaper.  He actually said this.  For more insightful analysis, join us for our newest recurring feature.
