Winnipeg

Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to Saskatoon or Yellow Knife.
I’m taking a snow machine on the Assiniboine line-
I’m in a Winnipeg state of mind.

I seen the wheat farmers in their harvesters and fancy trucks,
Been to Lake Manitoba, ice fishing in my mukluks,
But I know what I’m needing and I don’t want to waste more time-
I’m in a Winnipeg state of mind.

It was so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the murals and Folklorama fun,
But now I need a little give and take,
The Free Press, the Winnipeg Sun...

It comes down to reality-and it’s fine with me ’cause I’ve let it slide,
Don’t care if it’s Portage and Main or The Forks,
I don’t have any reasons, I’ve left them all behind-
I’m in a Winnipeg state of mind.

I’m just taking a snow machine on the Assiniboine line-
’cause I’m in a Winnipeg state of mind.
