Many of you reading this probably run your own blogs; that's the nature of the incestuous sportsblogging beast. So you've probably already gotten "pitches" like the ones I'm about to describe. For those of you who come here for the hockey dickjokes, well, here's a little peek at the mentally damaged underbelly of the blog world.
Let me preface this by saying: MYFO loves your advertising dollars. It keeps me and Hex in liquor and porn--and stuff that Hex likes, too. So if you are a legitimate company with something to sell that you think our readers might like (gambling seems to be popular!), by all means drop us a line. Just do better than this guy:
"Hi there, I was searching for sports related websites and found yours at Google, I really like what you have done with your site, so I am interested in do some kind of advertising there.
Sounds Good? Let me know
Thanks"
Oh yes, it Sounds Good, purveyor of poor grammar and nameless product! I can see why you got into marketing, what with your eye-catching introduction, vivid product description, and enticing rates! Sign us up!
Or this guy, who seems a bit confused about the nature of MYFO:
"Hello, My name is Txxxx Exxxxxx - I'm a filmmaker living in Brooklyn. This past week, in the midst of all the LeBron hype, I decided to hit the streets of New York and talk to some people about it. Dxxxxx Pxxx plays the role of host and Dxxxxxx Wxxxx, a perennial NBA draft hopeful. I think the video is pretty hilarious, much of the humor coming from the candid honesty of your average New Yorker. Would love if you took the time to check it out and if you like it, run it on your site. You can find the video at the following link:"
While "basketball" may be a funny word, IT IS NOT AS FUNNY AS PUCK. That's science. We only write about puck, or occasionally women's soccer if I find a new and nipples-visibly-erect Hope Solo picture. We are less interested in LeBron James than, say, James Neal. If you've got a hilarious James Neal-related video, I want to see it. No, seriously. A hilarious James Neal video would be awesome.
